He had just finished decorating his bower with all the pretty blue things he had found in the bush that morning, All the stories he read about all the plastic in the world. Looking down, Barry realised all his blue treasure was - PLASTIC!
He decided to talk to his friend Betty about the problem.’
Barry the satin bowerbird loves shiny things. But when the plastic starts piling up in his bower, he begins to wonder: is it really the best way to impress?. He visits his friends, Larry the blue tongue lizard, Una the Ulysses butterfly, and many more Australian animals on his quest.
This is a story I have had in my mind for a long time and its so good to see this environmentally themed story perfectly bound into a book! I have always been fascinated by satin bowerbirds and their quirky blue collections – but when I learnt how much plastic ends up in the bush, I wondered what would happen if a bowerbird decided to make a change.
So my book Barry the Satin Bowerbird goes green was born.
An endearing story with an environmental theme, discovering what we can do to make a positive difference in the world.
