Fiona Roderick was born in South Wales and spent much of her childhood riding her horse along the Welsh cliffs, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Welsh coastline. This environment helped to shape her future artistic vision. Fiona started her career as a Visual Merchandiser, working for major stores in London.
In 1985 Fiona moved to Sydney with her partner, where she worked as a Graphic Designer and she developed her love of printmaking.
Fiona's current work reflects her love of the natural world. Her inspiration is driven by the organic forms and textures evident in nature and also from the urban environment around her home in Sydney's inner west and Sydney Harbour. Fiona's strong link to her coastal home in Wales is played out in her work, here in Australia.
She shares her home with her partner, their two children and two cats.
All prints are printed on archival paper.
Every year in my studio in Sydney, I create twelve new birds for my calendar. These birds are made from discarded lino prints and paper I have painted. I store paper in plastic folders, according to colour, as you can imagine, every piece of paper is precious.
Each piece of collaged paper has been meticulously cut and layered, and has been scanned at a high resolution to capture the subtle textures of collage.
Now in its twelfth year, the 2027 Australian Bird Calendar is now available.
Twelve new Australian bird designs, size A4, spiral bound, with a hanger . Perfect gift for a twitcher friend or a relative living overseas. The calendar is created and printed on 100% recycled paper and printed locally in Sydney.
I have also released a special edition of only 50 A3 calendars, click here to purchase.
